Band of Builders visit learners during Enrichment Week

March 15 2018

Addam Smith spoke to construction students about volunteering with Band of Builders.

Band of Builders founder Addam lead an inspiring and motivating presentation to students studying various construction courses at Lincoln College.

From discussing how the charitable organisation was founded and Kieth's story, to talking to students about the experiences they can gain while working on a project.

Addam said: “Band of Builders is about looking after our people, so builders and tradesmen. The organisation was started for trades people by trades people – so the more of you we can get to work with us the better.

“Students that get involved with Band of Builders will get skills that just can’t be gained in the classroom – the experience of working with real tradesmen on a real project is an invaluable asset.”

Tom Bradford, a plastering student who has already volunteered with BOB through the partnership with Lincoln College said: “You get great work experience but you’re also putting something amazing back in to the community.

“Working with Band of Builders inspired me to go on and find a job for when I finish studying.

“During my interview the company mentioned they were aware of Band of Builders and congratulated me on the experience I’d had with them – it definitely looks great on your CV as well as being such a great cause and I ended up getting the job!”

Lecturer Paul Barnes, who established the initial connection between Lincoln College and Band of Builders said: “We look forward to working with BOB in the future and hope we can go on to form a strong partnership – it was an incredible experience and I’m so proud to say we’ve worked on one of their projects.”
