Chief Constable tours Policing College

July 07 2021

Lincoln College Execs were delighted to welcome Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable Chris Haward for an official visit today.

The Chief chatted to Policing College staff and students and toured the Lincoln campus.

The Policing College is now in its second year and has achieved record recruitment to its Level 2, 3 and Degree courses.

Co-designed with Lincolnshire Police, the College trains young people and adults for careers in support service roles like 999-call handlers, Custody Officers and Business Administrators.

Students can also progress onto the College’s Professional Policing Degree, which offers a direct route into police officer roles.

Lincolnshire Police has dedicated a significant amount of resources into helping the College enrich these courses with policing training, expert guest speakers and work experience placements.

Lincoln College Group CEO Gary Headland said: “It was an absolute pleasure to host Chris today and it was a great opportunity to thank him and his teams for the massive input they have in our courses.

“They have enabled us to create a really exciting learning opportunity for young people that not only gives them the skills they need, but also the knowledge and attitudes to increase their productivity when they start their policing career.

“We look forward to building on our relationship with Lincolnshire Police, not only training future and existing staff, but also supporting the policing community in any way we can. As organisations we are working towards the same goals in terms of adding social value in the communities we serve.”

Chief Constable Chris Haward said: “A career in the police service, or any of our other emergency services, is incredibly rewarding. These courses are a great way to develop not only the skills needed, but the kind of critical thinking our emergency workers need. It was a pleasure to visit the College today and meet the fine young people taking on the challenge of becoming the next generation of emergency service staff.”
