At Lincoln College a group of male members of staff braved a sponsored leg wax; Beauty Therapy students worked hard to make sure that their legs were hair-free. The group raised over £300 for Children in Need.
Student President Richard Arbon took part in the efforts, he said:
“I was really nervous but luckily it wasn't as painful as I thought it'd be. I'm glad we managed to raise this money all for a good cause, I encourage others to do what they can.”
Learning Adviser Richard Stanton also had his legs waxed, he said:
“We want to thank everybody who sponsored us as well as the Beauty Therapy students who took on the task of giving 4 grown men smooth silky legs. The students did a great job and I can confirm the back of the leg hurts a whole lot more than the front!
“It was worth it because we raised a lot of money for a very worthy charity and we all now feel and look beautiful.”
Lincoln College also hosted a talent show which saw students singing and playing instruments in front of an audience and panel of judges.
Plumbing staff and students donated their loose change in the workshops raising an additional £26.
Early Years students at Lincoln and Gainsborough Colleges sold sweets to staff and students on-campus raising over £300.
Gainsborough College students also enjoyed some table tennis, taking on the fearsome 'Robo Pong' machine in aid of Children In Need.
Newark College students held a successful bake sale which raised a further £112 for the charity. Newark College Library staff battled against students in a fundraising Mad Hatter competition to win prizes for having the best hat/headband, with some students coming in full fancy dress to college on the day.
Joanne Dalton, Library Officer at Newark College, said:
“I was so impressed with the staff and students who participated, they all looked fabulous. Thank you for your brilliant efforts.”
Great fundraising efforts by all three campuses led to a total of over £750 raised for Children In Need.
