Eight students from the Alfa College, Groningenin in the Netherlands spent two weeks in Lincoln, taking in the sights of the city and exploring a range of courses on offer at Lincoln College.

The group are currently studying construction and visited the city as part of a college partnership funded through Erasmus+ after a group of our students spent two weeks in Amsterdam earlier this year.

As part of their true Lincoln College experience the Dutch cohort and their tutors took part in workshop and practical sessions in brick-laying, painting and decorating, site visits with employers and sports activities.

The group took part in a carpentry competition with eight year one joinery apprentices from Lincoln College.

The winners were announced and carpentry related goodies were handed out as follows;

  • First – Dylan Lincoln College, Lincoln College
  • Second – Curtis Gagg, Lincoln College
  • Third – Timo Kruise, Alfa College

Paul Gregory, Interim Learning and Skills Head in Construction at Lincoln College said: “It was is was great to have students from Alfa College with us and I hope they have enjoyed their Lincoln College experience.

“These overseas college partnerships are hugely important for students on both sides, building their confidence, increasing their cultural awareness and improving their soft-skills, which is all part of them becoming well-rounded employees.”

During their stay, the group enhanced their trip by seeing the city itself, including the historical tourist attractions and social aspects of student life.
