First Lincoln College employees to graduate business degree

July 24 2019

Lucie Jarvis and Olivia Marston are the first two College staff members to achieve degrees as part of the initial cohort of graduates from the College’s Business Bachelors programme.

Lucie a HE Admin Officer has been awarded a 2:1 while Olivia an Exams Team Leader has achieved a 1st.

Lincoln College Group CEO Gary Headland said: “I am immensely proud of both Olivia and Lucie. From personal experience, I know how hard it is to study a degree while also working in a highly demanding job.

“They have both done brilliantly. They were in the first ever cohort of bachelor’s degrees in business and management that we have taught ourselves and they are a shining example to others; frankly, their achievement is extraordinary”

Lucie said: “I started the degree as it felt like the right time to go into higher study and after working full time at Lincoln College I had become interested in Business and Management. I’d also got to a point in my career where I felt that I needed to undertake a degree in order to move forward and open up more job opportunities.

“My future career goals are to progress into a management role. My degree will help me to reach my career goals as it has allowed me to further develop my skills and has provided me with a qualification in management – I’m also considering studying an MA in Criminology.”

Olivia said: “I always knew I wanted to complete a degree but I didn’t know what I want wanted to do it in.

“After starting an apprenticeship at Lincoln College, I decided I was interested in business management as I knew it would allow me to develop a broad understanding of business organisations and would provide me with subject-specific knowledge in a variety of areas, such as marketing and human resources.

“My future career goal is to join the police force and work within the criminal investigations department. My degree has helped me to gain some of the necessary skills required for the post, such as the ability to be logical and analytical, develop excellent communication skills, gather and assess information as well as prepare reports.”

If you're interestied in studying from this September there's still places available on our degree courses - check out our Clearing portal here.
