Connor Richie completed an apprenticeship in L3 Joinery at college and is now the Site Forman for the construction expansion project, a development which will allow more students to learn a trade in the way he did.
After finishing his apprenticeship, Connor worked for himself before joining Horsman Construction. He is responsible for completing the required construction jobs on the project, to ensure the site follows all health and safety requirements and that the job is finished on time.
Conner said: “By attending college it gave me the qualifications and experience to be able to learn a trade and continue my future career.
“It’s great to return to college and be part of this project that will help others learn a trade in the same way I did.”
Penny Taylor, Advanced Curriculum Coach at Newark College, said: “One of our aims at Newark College is to be employer-led and Connor is an excellent example and role model for other students.
“We are looking forward to welcoming new students on a range of courses that have been designed to develop local people for local jobs.”
