The educational trip is part of a European Commission programme which enables students to learn in different counties gaining cultural awareness and international learning techniques. The link with Alfa College stems back 20-years and continues to provide students with an invaluable experience which can boost their learning journey and career path, with a return visit to be hosted at Lincoln College planned for May 2018.
Over the two week period, construction students will work with the Construction Team at Alfa College, with ten-days of attending working sites, live city projects and employers.
The experiences and skills gained while in Groningen will relate specifically to vocational development and personal development, and evidenced to support their course assessments and completion of required work experience.
Students will have the opportunity to explore the city of Amsterdam at the weekend to help assist with their cultural understanding and independency.
Paul Gregory, Interim Learning and Skills Head in Construction at Lincoln College said “This provides students with a fantastic opportunity to learn about the construction industry in a different country.”
“Trips of this nature offer our students a fresh perspective on their chosen career path, what opportunities are open to them and a chance to develop their soft skills, such as building their confidence in communication and travel.”
“Alfa College provide a great deal of work-based-learning with a mixture of Tech and Pro (including architectural and surveying studies) and Joinery giving them a broad skill set and greater understanding of all aspects of construction”.
