The prestigious ERS Awards recognise employers who have demonstrated support for the Armed Forces community through implementing practical policies in the workplace.
To achieve Silver, Lincoln College had to demonstrate that the Armed Forces community is not unfairly disadvantaged as part of its recruitment policies and must also actively ensure the workforce is aware of its positive policies.
Last year Lincoln College Group announced that all former service personnel will be guaranteed interviews at its Lincoln, Newark and Gainsborough colleges.
The new scheme builds on the Armed Forces Covenant that Lincoln College Group signed, which pledges support and equal opportunities to all former armed service personnel.
Claire O’Hara, head of Human Resources at Lincoln College, said: “We are delighted to receive this award, helping armed forces personnel to resettle into Lincoln and Greater Lincolnshire is a strategic goal for the college.
“We are keen for our students to benefit from the leadership and world renowned expertise of our armed forces and as such have made a commitment to guarantee interviews for ex-armed forces personnel that meet the minimum shortlisting criteria.
“In addition, Lincoln College’s Air and Defence College provides employer-led, career focused education and technical training for 16-19 year olds, designed to create secure career paths in the Royal Air Force, aerospace and catering industries.”
