Aimee, who has been doing her Level 4 apprenticeship while working as a Junior Accountant at Nicholson’s Chartered Accountants, said she was delighted.
“I was a little nervous on the night, but I was really pleased. The staff at Lincoln College, especially my assessor Nigel Hullettt, have been hugely supportive and have played a big part in me doing so well,” she said.
“After a long period of home study before my apprenticeship I have the attitude that if I don’t do well – it’s on me. I’ve worked hard and studied hard to achieve this.”
Aimee said she would be a willing champion of apprenticeships and happy to recommend them to young people.
“I went to a local school that was very focused on progression to university. I was never quite sure about this path. It just wasn’t for me. I actually applied for university and deferred the place to think about it – in the end I was really glad I chose the apprenticeship route. I wanted to work and I wanted to study to further my career and this has enabled me to achieve both,” she said.
Nicholson’s Director Richard Hallsworth said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for Aimee. I remember interviewing her and how nervous she was. It was great to see her up on the stage being recognised and also seeing the confidence she has developed shining through.
“Taking on apprentices has regenerated our business and made us more relevant in the sector. We are delighted with what Nigel Hullett is doing for our staff. Apprenticeships are a partnership between training providers and businesses and we need to do more to celebrate that.”
Nigel Hullett is one of our Accountancy Instructor Assessors, who has worked at the college for 13 years.
“I’m delighted that Aimee has been recognised in this way. She has worked really hard throughout her apprenticeship and has passed everything first time. I know she is a real asset to Nicholson’s and is very highly thought of. She has shown a real drive and determination and she will undoubtedly go a long way in her career,” he said.
