Lincoln College’s Access to Higher Education (HE) students graduated in a celebration ceremony on campus with friends and family – marking the achievement of the hard work and dedication shown during their studies.

Access to HE diplomas are one-year courses designed to support adult learners in their progression to a wide range of degrees with the equivalent UCAS points as three A Levels.

The College works closely with higher education institutions, including our own degree provision, to ensure students are equipped with the skills they need for further study.

There is no upper age limit to study on the course - enabling those who have been out of education for a while or those who wish to change career direction with the opportunity to progress to further study at degree level.

Each Diploma is designed to fit alongside family and employment commitments so that adult learners can fully engage.

Pathways and subject options support progression to a variety of degrees, from careers linked to nursing, midwifery and paramedic science to subject specialisms such as English Literature, Business, Policing, Psychology, and Chemistry.

All subjects studied have higher education study skills embedded in the learning, developing academic writing, research skills, referencing, presentation skills and report writing.

Full support in applying to higher education through the UCAS process is also provided.

Rebecca Hamnett, Director of Higher Education at Lincoln College, said: “I would like to extend my warmest and most heartfelt congratulations to our graduating cohort from Access to HE.

“Access programmes are notoriously intense. They require complete commitment from those who choose this route through to Higher Education, something demonstrated by every one of the students who have successfully graduated today.

“I am confident that the knowledge and skills that you are now equipped with will stand you in good stead for your next programme of study and I look forward to hearing about your future successes in the coming years.”

Most students apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to pay their tuition fees, which is then waived on completion of an undergraduate degree.
