Stuart took over as manager at the end of November last year, just before the third national lockdown.
He says it’s been an interesting but challenging time but is excited to be welcoming back members to the centre.
“It's been a very interesting experience since starting at the Centre during Covid and it has of course had its challenges, but we’re pleased to have been able to open again and it’s been great spending time with the staff and getting to know members better over the past couple of weeks.”
As always the priority has been the safety of all users and staff at the centre and Stuart has been working hard with colleagues to ensure everything is in place to welcome visitors back.
“The main priority was making sure the centre was safe for our members, college staff and students when they returned, I have also been working behind closed doors on our Virtual Timetable so members can continue to exercise with our instructors online.
“Our main aim is that our staff, members and any other visitors are safe and I can confidently say that is the case. We have all the necessary precautions in place including bookable time slots across all our facilities, working to set capacities to ensure the safety of everyone. Everyone is welcome to come down and see for themselves!”
Stuart has worked in the gym/leisure industry for over 20 years in a variety of roles, most recently as an area manager for the north-west region of a leisure company. People may also recognise Stuart from his previous role as dual site manager for both the Sports Direct fitness centres in Lincoln for several years.
“We have a fantastic, knowledgeable team here at Deans who are happy to help and answer any queries people may have. I would say come and give us a try, we're a safe environment to be in and we have a range of facilities to suit all needs and with customer service to match - you won't be disappointed.
“A lot of people don’t realise some of the facilities we have available, including the pool, squash courts and an outside football and netball court, all which can be hired out too.”
Stuart uses Deans gym to stay fit and active, and when not working enjoys playing Sunday League football. He also enjoys spending time with his family and says he’s carried out a fair bit of DIY at home during lockdown!
