Newark College hosts Next Steps Apprenticeship Fair in #LoveOurColleges Week

May 14 2019

We’re celebrating the Association of Colleges #LoveOurColleges Week by sharing a Week in the Life of Lincoln College. The week of action is designed to demonstrate why the Chancellor should ensure meaningful and sustainable investment in colleges in his comprehensive spending review. So we’ll be talking about the social and economic value we add through education and training all week.

Association of Colleges #LoveOurColleges Week

Day 2 Newark College hosts Next Steps Apprenticeship and Jobs Fair

More than 20 local companies discussed career opportunities with 180 Newark College students at the event today.

Students gained an insight into the next steps available to them including apprenticeships and full-time and part-time employment

Michelle Breedon from Serendipity Day Nursery said: “Coming to an event like this today gives us the opportunity to speak to students to let them know what nursery life is like, what they would be doing if they came to us for a job and also what vacancies we have at the moment.

“We’ve had Newark College students working with us at Serendipity and we’ve found the college prepares students well by giving them life skills, interview experience and the right tools to go out there and work in a nursery environment.”

Business student Matthew Hall said:  “The fair has been a really useful experience. I’ve walked around and spoken to lots of local companies and it’s helped me to find out more about my career options, which helps me to prepare for when I finish studying.”
