This weekend Lincoln Cathedral played host to the Spark! Engineering Festival 2017. Celebrating the city’s rich engineering heritage.
Lincoln College was represented at the event by both the Engineering & Technology School and the Air & Defence Career College.
Head of Engineering & Technology Derek Howsham said: “All three days of the Spark! Festival were a resounding success. Over 800 school pupils attended on Friday and took part in numerous activities aimed at raising awareness and making engineering exciting.”
“ It is a testament to the event that many pupils returned on the Saturday and Sunday to bring along their parents. Spark! is a celebration of local engineering for all ages and takes its name from the desire to provide the first spark of interest for tomorrow’s engineers.”
Spark Engineering Festival is organised by a collaboration of local organisations, businesses and education establishments aiming to invigorate and inspire young people to enter the world of engineering.
Head of Career Colleges Richard Long said: “Our students who staffed the Chapterhouse Schools Visit area on Friday had great fun engaging local children with a STEM Challenge they had developed specifically for this event. Spark! Festival is a great event that invests in the future.”
