The charity sends boxes filled with toiletries, books, sweets and clothing to troops on operations around the world to boost morale at Christmas time.

SI Andrew Hinch from the Army Cadet Force’s Abbey Detachment said:

“It is great that students are making a difference to serving personnel across the world and are thinking about the bigger picture. Many thanks for their efforts on behalf of Abbey Detachment and troops worldwide.”

GCSE Pathway Lecturer Lynn Train-Brown said:

“The students have been excellent and really enthusiastic about contributing to the Shoebox for Heroes initiative.

“I am very proud of them; as well as increasing their sense of community their efforts have increased their employability with skills such as team-work, confidence and a strong sense of satisfaction that they are making a difference to the lives of others.”
