Students bring home gold

March 03 2020

The Lincoln College PAN Ability student football team wins gold at the AoC Sport Regional tournament

The sports students have been competing in the AoC Sport Regional and National competitions for a number of years. In the past AoC Sport National Finals they were awarded bronze for three consecutive years before winning silver last year.

The team have recently played against six colleges in the Regional Qualifier, scooping gold. This has given them a boost as they now progress to compete at the National Cup finals held at St Georges Park, the home of the FA and the England National Team. Alongside this they will be competing at the AoC Sport National finals.

Adam Goy, a Skills for Sports learner said: “Our football team is first in the league and we are all really proud of this achievement. We have all worked really well as a team and are going to continue to do this for the final”.

Stuart Reddington, Head of Sport and Service at Lincoln College said: “This team, and group of students keep going from strength to strength.

“Their win is a huge psychological boost for the team, as they now look forward to two lots of National Finals, starting in April. While they develop as footballers, and as a team, they are also developing really important skills for employment along the way.

I can't wait to see how they perform on the National-stage, on two fronts, later on in the academic year.”
