Jade Whitely and Chris Barnes who study on the College’s BA (Hons) Lens Based Media course worked alongside the media and marketing teams at Google to photograph the event.
The seminar was attended by a number of big businesses that are working together across a number of digital industries.
Jade said: ”I was so excited to be given this chance of a lifetime.
“Arriving at Google was incredible – I loved every minute of it!
“For one day I was able to work for a big company and felt like one of the team. Now I will carry that feeling of pride to every job I attend and continue to work on my skills, professionalism and independence.”
“I also travelled alone on the train – something which before I started at Lincoln College was nowhere near possible to achieve but through the support of the College I have the tools to embrace my autism and become more independent. Now there is no stopping me!”
Chris said: “It’s enabled me to see what the setup of an event shoot looks like and roles of each person shooting at the event.
“Going forward in terms of my professional career in photography this has given me the confidence and extra experience needed to progress further and explore other areas of the subject.
“If an opportunity similar to this event becomes available again I’d recommend it to other students on the course.”
Lecturer Alistair Smith said: “Jade and Chris had a great opportunity to see how the creative industry is developing and gain some insights into real world application of the skills developed on the BA (Hons) Lens Based Media course.”
