Students glam up felines to purrrfection for CATS musical

July 17 2019

The Lincoln College beauty students provided costume make-up for the cast of CATS that began this week at Lincoln Drill Hall.

With a sell-out show, the students got the opportunity to design the make-up look for each of their ‘CATS’ as well as apply it before each live performance.

DTC Productions, the producers of the show, first started working with Lincoln College learners in 2006 when they put on their very first production at Lincoln Drill hall which was Les Misérables.

Since 2006 the production company has produced many a musical at the venue including The Phantom of the Opera, Legally Blonde, Evita and many more – which have always been supported by Lincoln College production arts students.

Jamie Marcus Producer at DTC Productions said: “What’s really exciting about this year is that it’s the first-year make-up artistry students have worked with us.

“When I approached the College three months ago to work on such an ambitious project the beauty department were thrilled to have their students working on the make-up for CATS and the benefit this provides for their learners.

“The skills that these students have brought really heightens the show and the performances for these young actors and actresses as well as the audience.

“We’re delighted to be working yet again with Lincoln College.”

Samantha Kieran Level 3 Make-up Artistry student said: “I started the course at Lincoln College as I wanted to update my make-up skills and keep up with the latest trends.

“This experience has been amazing and will not only look great on my CV but CATS is my favourite musical, so it’s been really fun creating these looks.

“It’s helped me develop my portfolio even further as well as given me amazing real-life work experience.”
