Institute of Technology (IoT)

Welcome to the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology (IoT) page. Here you will find everything you need to know about the IoT courses we offer at Lincoln College, including further information about the Institute, a full list of courses available, and how to apply.

Supporting Technical Skills Development in Lincolnshire

The Institutes of Technology (IoT) have been formed across England to enhance the career and employment chances of young people and adults.

The programmes that have been created at the institutes have been designed in collaboration with employers, colleges, and universities to ensure students are work-ready and to offer clear career progression.

At the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology, our aim is to develop the talent and skills to drive exciting new age industries and play a role in enabling a dynamic, technology-driven economy. We have a range of Level 4, 5 and 6 courses covering four IoT pathways - Automotive Electric/HybridDigital Technologies, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Construction and Civil Engineering.

Watch this quick video below to find out more about the Institutes of Technology, download the brochure or visit our Lincolnshire IoT website.

The Lincolnshire Institute of Technology (IoT) is a collaboration between the University of Lincoln and Further Education providers across Greater Lincolnshire.

The IoT specialises in delivering high quality technical education across industries with a focus on Engineering, Digital, Automotive, Manufacturing, and Constructions subjects, opening up opportunities for students to gain industry-relevant skills to overcome some of the key challenges facing the technical industries.

The courses have been designed to develop the essential skills and experience needed for a range of pathways to ensure learners complete their training career-ready.

At Lincoln College, we have a range of Level 4, 5 and 6 courses covering four IoT pathways:

A multi-million-pound investment has been made to refurbish our oldest Grade II listed Gibney building to house the IoT.

It has been designed to replicate the latest progressive working environments.

We have also equipped all of our workshops and classrooms with the latest IT hardware, computing, electrical engineering and automotive engineering equipment.

View below some photos of the newly-refurbished Gibney building:

IoT Construction and Civil Engineering

The IoT Construction and Civil Engineering programmes are designed to develop a broad understanding and practical experience in the typical tasks and requirements of engineering and construction management professionals and the underpinning academic knowledge.

Through both practical and theoretical sessions, students have the opportunity to develop the hands-on skills that are essential for successful employment within the sector.

Assignments are vocational in nature and students are encouraged to apply their knowledge in the most relevant way to their current employment or aspirational job role. A number of off-site visits are undertaken throughout the course to support the theoretical principles and practices delivered.
