Lincoln College’s Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma students graduated in a celebration ceremony at The Drill with friends and family – marking the achievement of the hard work and dedication shown during their studies.

Access to HE diplomas are a one-year, intensive, course designed to support adult learners in their progression to a wide range of degrees with the equivalent UCAS points as three A Levels.

Lincoln College works closely with higher education institutions, including our own degree provision Lincoln College University Centre, to ensure students are equipped with the skills they need for further study.

There is no upper age limit to study on the course - enabling those who have been out of education for a while or those who wish to change career direction with the opportunity to progress to further study at degree level.

Each Diploma is designed to fit alongside family and employment commitments so that adult learners can fully engage.

Pathways and subject options support progression to a variety of degrees, from careers linked to nursing, midwifery and paramedic science to subject specialisms such as English Literature, Business, Policing, Psychology, and Chemistry.

All subjects studied have higher education study skills embedded in the learning, developing academic writing, research skills, referencing, presentation skills and report writing.

Full support in applying to higher education through the UCAS process is also provided.

Kimberly Mee, Learning and Skills Lead for Access to HE at Lincoln College, said: “We would like to extend our congratulations to our 2023 graduating Access to HE cohort.

“The Access to HE Diploma are intensive courses that require commitment from those who choose this path to Higher Education, something demonstrated by all of our students who have graduated today at The Drill.

“We are confident that the knowledge and skills that the students are now equipped with will stand them in good stead for their Higher Education studies and we look forward to learning about their future success.”

Most students apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to pay their tuition fees, which is then waived on completion of an undergraduate degree.
