The event was hosted by Iliffe Media at Newark Showground and was the first in-person awards since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Guests enjoyed a glitzy evening to celebrate the achievements of the town’s business community, with awards presented in ten different categories.
The ‘Employee of the Year’ category was judged by Michael Hardy Business Doctor. He presented the award to Penny Taylor describing her as a force to be reckoned with who only has the best interests of students at heart.
On winning the award, Penny said: “It’s a privilege going to a job I love every morning. It’s a pleasure working with young people and adults in Newark who want to learn, whether that be to gain qualifications, retrain, reskill, or learn for pleasure.
“I work with the most amazing team of staff who share the same passion as me, which is to enable others to develop a love of learning. Through this we’re helping people in our community gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours suitable for work.
“This is an award for everyone at Newark College, who helps us every day to be extraordinary.”
Penny took home a bespoke trophy made by the College’s very own carpentry and joinery students. Infact, the learners designed and made all ten trophies given out to finalists on the night.
As associate sponsors of the event, Newark College also judged the ‘Team of the Year’ category, choosing The Fulfillment People as deserving winners due to their resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic and their incredible commitment to clients during this time.
Tom Marsden, the Group Director of Strategic Growth presented the award on behalf of the College.
