The majority of current students sitting GCSEs at College are taking English and Maths re-sits to improve their scores, alongside their technical training courses.
Recent school leavers may feel disheartened after receiving GCSE results. At Lincoln College we will guide you towards success and support you if you need to retake your exams. We see many students flourish with the progression opportunities that we have on offer.
Brandon Davis started his journey with us in the Level 2 Mechanical Engineering Diploma last year and progressed to his Level 3 Extended Diploma. Last week, he secured his place on our Level 4 Degree Apprenticeship route! Brandon will have many of his Level 3 classmates joining him at his next level of study.
Brandon Davis, said: “I am feeling delighted, excited and nervous – I can’t wait to continue my education. I am also really proud of myself; I can’t express the fulfilment that you get for continuing into an educational environment.
“In College, you build relationships and connections with people - it transforms you as a person, and you also get networking opportunities.”
“I have been really supported in education at College – but not just in education, there’s tutor support for mental and physical wellbeing – which is fantastic for me and a lot of other people that I know. I was also fully supported within the driving scheme through my theory and practical driving with lessons and tests!”
As an employer-led college we encourage students to take industry placements like Brandon has. We know the financial restraints this can have, so we offer free driving lessons to help you as much as possible.
Vikki Thornley, Industry Placement and Work Experience Coordinator, said: “The driving scheme is an excellent way for students on an industry placement to support their career prospects.
“The county is so large it can be difficult for people to get around in certain industries, like construction – so having driving lessons and passing their test can help remove the barriers for the student getting a job or apprenticeship.”
Lincoln College Deputy Principal Matt Vaughan said: “A huge congratulations to our students and their families, who have supported them.
"Our message to the wider community is that whatever your results today, we have places available on a variety of technical training courses, T Levels and apprenticeships that can lead to solid trade, arts, creative media and digital careers. We also offer a wide range of A Level subjects with strong links to local firms.
“Adult learners who want to progress on to higher education can take advantage of our Access to HE courses, which can be funded with Adult Learners Loans - and your loan even gets wiped if you go on to gain a degree qualification."
