The finals, taking place in the skills kitchen at Lincoln College, see the competitors each cook a two-course meal from locally sourced ingredients that is served to a panel of judges.
The winner will be announced at the annual Lincolnshire Life awards ceremony in November where one of the young hopefuls will be awarded the title of ‘Young Chef of the Year’.
Violeta is hoping to wow the judges with her sous vide duck with braised red cabbage, sweet potato puree and juniper glazed carrots, she said:
“I am so proud to be in the finals, it’s a huge accomplishment and has given me more confidence with what I do
“One day I hope to be a fine dining chef so this experience is very exciting.”
Lincoln College’s Alan Pierce, who has worked as Head Chef at the campus-based Sessions restaurant, said:
“This competition is a fantastic opportunity for the students to showcase their skills to different people and gain some acknowledgement at the Lincolnshire Life Award Ceremony.
“Our students went through a testing process to make it to the finals and both very creative and capable, they are truly passionate about what they do.”
