Lincoln College celebrates its 21st graduation ceremony

September 27 2018

Hundreds of excited students and proud friends and family attended the College’s annual event at Lincoln Cathedral last night.

The 260 graduates and their families then joined local dignitaries, prominent employers and college staff for a graduation reception in the grounds of Lincoln Castle.

Learners graduated in a wide range of subjects from herbal medicine and acupuncture to construction, engineering, business and teaching.

Guest of honour, Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) leader Cllr Martin Hill MBE, gave the graduation address.

And Cllr Colin Davie, LCC Executive Member for Economic Development, was awarded companionship of Lincoln College for his significant contribution to developing the profile of the College.

Lincoln College Group CEO Gary Headland said: “The delivery of higher education and higher skills to meet the needs of our local and regional employers is pivotal to us achieving our mission of being employer-led, producing a highly-skilled and productive local workforce.

“We are immensely proud of the achievements of all those who graduated yesterday.

“It was wonderful to see so many proud families, local employers, dignitaries and political stakeholders. I would like to thank Cllr Hill for attending and inspiring our students with his own story of lifelong learning and Cllr Davie for his ever present support, which we recognised with our highest honour during the ceremony.”

CIPD graduate and Regional HR Manager for Leaf Hospitality, Charlotte Ward said:  “It was really exciting to graduate at the Cathedral.

“Not only am I now working in a management capacity but I now also have the qualification to sit alongside that.

“The College has great staff members who really helped me get back into study life.

“I think to get back into studying and show yourself that no matter how long it’s been that you can do it and if you put 100 per cent into something you will get 100 per cent back.

“It’s been a great experience for me personally - and professionally as well.”

Lincoln College is still recruiting students to study on its degree courses this year. It’s not too late to apply, even if you have started at another University or college and it’s not working out too well.

We will reduce your student fee to reflect the time you have missed – so you won’t lose out.
