The Championships are a celebration of competitive sports in colleges from across the country. They are also the largest annual student sporting event in the UK, with over 1,500 students taking part.
The team qualified as champions of the East Midlands during November 2018 and had been training religiously in preparation for the biggest tournament of their careers so far.
For many of the learners this was the first time they’d stayed away from home meaning this event not only enhances their sporting ability but also develops wider skills such as independence, responsibility and respect.
Team Manager Gavin Knox said: “We are immensely proud of the team’s achievements in a tournament of this higher standard.
“Not only does the tournament challenge the learners with their abilities on the pitch but it gives them the chance to develop their independence.
“It was a pleasure spending the weekend with these wonderful and talented young people.”
Player and student Jean-Luc Croft said “I gained so much confidence from the weekend both from the football side and being away from home.
“I enjoyed supporting my team mates and stepping up when I was called upon.”
