Lincoln College Netball Academy Enjoying Competition Success

December 02 2016

The team compete in the AoC Sport East Midlands Regional Championships.

The Lincoln College Netball Academy has gone from strength to strength since the start of the season, representing Lincoln in the County Schools Tournament, where they came third. This gave a great boost in their confidence and motivation to make it into the AoC Sport East Midlands Regional Tournament on the 16th November.

The team's coach Rachel Henderson said:

“This tournament was so important to the girls, who had set their own season goal to get to the National Finals in Nottingham in April.

“They were definitely nervous having lost twice to Bilborough in the AoC Regional League and in the National Cup, and have quickly become our nemesis, along with Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College. Beating Wyggeston 14 – 9 in the heats, we had Bilborough in the Semi-Final. The girls stepped up to the challenge, with the game going goal for goal to the whistle, ending in our favour.

“The final against Wyggeston was nail-biting with a lecturer from Central College Nottingham remarking ‘that’s the best final I have seen; that is what a final should look like’.

“The hard work, commitment and ‘game sense’ that the girls have shown in training really came alive in the match with a final score of 21 – 18.”

The next challenge will be the AoC National Finals between the 21st – 23rd April 2017 at Nottingham University.
