Students from both campuses attended the sessions, which provide young people with key life skills and a greater awareness of the training and career opportunities within the Royal Navy Royal Marines.
Learners were shown how to cook a balanced meal of chicken crème fraiche and vegetables, with a fruit smoothie, while being given nutrition and fitness advice around how to use food to effectively fuel the body.
CSGT Mike Beaton said: “The aim is to create an awareness of the education around food and how this can inspire, enthuse and engage young people.
“Through food we can tell a story about the Royal Marines and the Royal Navy and get students to think about their next steps and how they can achieve this.”
Students were pleased to gain an insight into the life of a Royal Marine. Kieran Lee from Newark College said: “I really want to be an army commander and today made me realise this is the job for me. It was awesome.”
Fellow student, Charlie Coltart said: “‘It was amazing, CSGT Mike Beaton was energising and his personality made me listen throughout.”
