Air & Space Institute

Lincoln College’s Air and Space Institute provides career-focused, employer and technology-led education and technical training for 16 to 18-year-olds. Our industry supporters work closely with us to provide a unique and innovative model, which is tailored for young people who would like careers in aviation.

Technology-led learning

ASI (Newark) is an international centre of excellence to train people to enter the air and space industry. Our Further Education Civil or Military and Defence pathways provide level two and three technical qualifications that have clear progression routes into jobs for Pilot, Ground and Engineer roles.

All of our qualifications have been designed in partnership with aviation industry experts and they have been reverse-engineered from specific job roles. This means all of the units within our courses give you the exact knowledge, skills and competencies to be effective in these job roles.

Our education and training are delivered by industry experts with years of flying and aircraft engineering experience in the air and space sector. That means when you graduate you can slot into one of our partner's contracted employees and hit the ground running.

You’ll graduate with not only the very best technical training but the confidence and behaviours to enable you to thrive in your new career. The qualifications are broadly equivalent to 2-3 A-levels and provide enough UCAS points to progress onto our ASI (Newark) Higher Education Programmes. These courses have been developed with Nottingham Trent University (NTU) to provide a level six degree top-up upon completion of your chosen HNC and HND as part of ASI Newark.

If you don't quite meet the entry requirements for our level three programmes or just like the sound of our level two space and engineering studies pathway, you can enrol on this one-year, level two ASI course. This exciting new programme is for learners who are intending to work in the aviation, air and space and engineering sectors. You will study specific space units as well as several engineering units to prepare you for your next steps.

This also gives you a chance to re-sit your GCSE English and Maths if you need to. If you succeed in this course and achieve the level-three requirements you can move on to the level-three group the following September.

There will also be a number of enrichment opportunities where you will partake in exciting trips and visits as well as hear from industry guest speakers.

Sponsorship & Apprenticeships

Our industry supporters may hire our graduates as apprentices and full-time employees.

This means students are uniquely placed to gain access to our fantastic network of employers through the unique enrichment opportunities available as part of our programmes.
