Do you love sports? Do you want to be better at one or more sports? Would you like to have a job in sports someday? If so, this course is great for you.

This is an Entry Level to Level One programme which is aimed at learners who would benefit from extra support in their learning and are looking at building the required skills for a career in the sports industry.

The Skills for Sport course is ideal if you enjoy active sports and is a tailored programme focused on developing confidence, independence and the soft skills required to successfully achieve goals. You will help to organise and participate in sports events and compete in regular inter-college tournaments.

All courses include English and Maths, you will follow accredited Functional Skills qualifications, as well as Continuing Personal/Professional Development, tutorials, enrichment and enterprise projects and a work experience placement.

You will have access to excellent indoor and outdoor sport facilities, where you can practise:

  • Football

  • Badminton

  • Table-tennis

  • Gym

  • Basketball

  • Cricket and much more.

  • Entry requirements

    There are no formal entry requirements for this course. You will need to attend a Welcome Day, Taster and Interview. A BKSB assessment will be carried out to determine Maths and English levels. In addition, a Support Needs Assessment will also be carried out, to identify any additional needs. Applicants with an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan), will need a consultation.

    Assessment & Progression

    Assessment Assessment is a combination of practical activities and a collection of work in a portfolio.

    Progression: This course offers you support with your studies and the curriculum is geared to get you to progress your independent living skills and develop yourself in ways which will help you to make the transition into mainstream studies or supported employment.

    What You Will Need To Bring

    You’ll need Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as shin pads, football boots, waterproof clothing plus tracksuit bottoms, t-shirts and trainers. You’ll also need general stationery equipment such as a pencil case, black pen, pencil; ruler; rubber; pencil sharpener; pencil sharpener; A4 folder; A4 lined notepad; A4 punched pockets and file dividers. Please contact Student Services if you require financial help to purchase the PPE.

    Fees listed are for those aged 19 years and over only. Fees are subject to change. Support for fees may be available, such as fee remission or the Advanced Learner Loan.
