INDUSTRY LED education

Students on our specialist technical training programmes benefit from the invaluable expertise of our accomplished lecturers. With their extensive industry experience, our tutors will not only equip you with the necessary skills but also provide valuable insights into the culture and expectations within your desired sector.

Our specialist employer-led training programmes give students incredible opportunities with industry experts and experiences.

You will learn in industry-standard workshops that have the latest equipment and many technical courses are assessed predominantly via coursework projects rather than exams.

Specialist programme areas

Explore your options that are delivered across all three of the Lincoln College Group campuses including Lincoln College, Newark College and the Air & Space Institute.

A partnership with Lincolnshire Police that prepares young people for its Professional Policing Degree and progression into police officer roles, along with jobs and apprenticeships in support roles including 999 call handlers and custody officers.

The ASI prepares young people for careers in the aviation and space sectors working as engineers, ground operations staff and cabin crew via technical training and A Levels at its new £15m HQ in Newark.

This world-class training facility houses an Air France Airbus A318 jet and students take flight lessons out of Nottingham City Airport.

Supported by award-winning celebrity hair stylist Lee Stafford, this supra-study programme gets young people work-ready for the hairdressing and barbering industry. Lee Stafford and his team train our staff and students in the latest styling, cutting and colouring techniques in special masterclasses throughout the year. Our students also work in our city centre finishing school Salon – Aura.

This centre of excellence trains young people for chef, front of house, barista, mixologist, hospitality manager and events manager roles. Here our students work in our finishing schools; Session Restaurant, The Old Bakery restaurant and The Drill.

The only college course in the UK enabling students to complete the Care Certificate, which is the gold standard care-giving qualification, ensuring students can hit the ground running in a sector experiencing huge skills shortages

School of Food & Hospitality

Alumni student Lucy Bell is a shining star from our School of Food and Hospitality, Lucy maximised enrichment opportunities at Lincoln college, including a Michelin star work experience and restaurant opening, head chef opportunity and a full-funded Erasmus trip to Denmark.

At Lincoln College, we pride ourselves on being employer-led, and Lucy's story reflects just that.

She gained valuable work experience at the Pipe and Glass. She also had the incredible opportunity to work alongside the renowned Michelin Star chef, James Mackenzie, contributing to a collaborative menu at the Sessions Restaurant reopening‍‍!

The Level 3 Professional Cookery student embarked on an enriching journey during her final year with us. She jetted off to Denmark for her Erasmus trip, this adventure ignited her passion for working abroad.

Students college-wide may have the enriching opportunity to travel around the world through the Erasmus Turing Scheme - a fully-funded initiative.

Lucy acted as head chef delivering her Puerto Rican inspired menu - directing her classmates across different stations in our new chef suite for a seamless delivery. Dishes included pan fried plantain with mojo de ajo and pique, coconut seafood stew and mojito sorbet.

All students get the opportunity to gain managerial skills and get creative during their time with us. Whether you're directing your menu in the kitchen or managing the front of the house, our courses provide shaping opportunities to make you industry-ready for employment beyond college. 

Whilst at college students can apply for various support initiatives to support their studies to get them to their perfect career destination.

Lucy benefited from course-related cost support with cheffing equipment and travel support to her work placement at the Pipe and Glass.

Since her time with us, Lucy Bell has set sail on an extraordinary culinary journey. She now thrives as a private chef on a luxury yacht, exploring the world one delicious dish at a time.
