SEND and Learning Support

We understand that some students may require extra support to access their chosen course successfully. Our team offers various types of assistance, including in-class support, dyslexia support, and mobility assistance.

Some learners with a learning difficulty or disability may require extra support to access their chosen course successfully. This is called Additional Learning Support (ALS).  In some cases a learner requiring ALS will have had a Statement of Educational Needs when they were at school and a Section 139a or an Education Health and Care Plan.

Learners should declare this on their application form; this will trigger an assessment of their support needs with an Assessment and Support Coodinator.

Lincoln College holds regular parent/carer forums for those with a child that has a Special Educational Need (SEND). Parents and carers are welcome to attend the meetings, which take place on the second Thursday of each month (1-2pm). Parents/carers need to visit reception to be signed in.

Special Educational Needs (SEND)

We know that everyone learns differently, and sometimes, a little extra support can make a big difference. If you're someone who needs a bit of help because of a learning difficulty or disability, we've got your back.

When you apply, let us know about any extra support you might need. We'll set you up with a member of the Assessment and Support Team who'll figure out what kind of support will work best for you. This could include things like help in class, one-on-one support outside of class, assistance with dyslexia, mobility help, or even special technology to make learning easier.

If you've had special arrangements for exams in the past, like extra time or a reader, don't worry! Just let us know when your exams are and provide some evidence, and we'll do our best to make sure you have what you need to succeed.
