T Levels are an alternate qualification to A levels, other post-16 courses or an apprenticeship. They bring classroom learning and an extended industry placement together on a course designed with businesses and employers.

T Levels are ideal if you have finished your GCSEs and want the knowledge and experience to get straight into employment, an apprenticeship or higher education. You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge companies look for.

One T level takes 2 years of full-time study and is equivalent to 3 A levels. The first 3 T Levels have started at selected colleges and schools in England, with more coming in the following years.

T Level options at Lincoln College

We also offer various Level 2 Transitional T Levels which are designed to support learners that wish to progress onto a Level 3 T Level qualification, but are currently not quite in that position to do so.

This course will give you the necessary opportunities to improve your GCSE English or Maths grades, help you build greater confidence of your practical ability whilst completing an industrial placement and build in your chosen sector.

case study

Zoe Robinson

Zoe Robinson is a second-year T Level Health and Science student and one of the first cohorts at Lincoln College to undertake the T Level qualification.

“The course has been good so far. We have had a very eclectic experience - from in the classroom with teachers to being in the hospital with different professionals. With it being a new course, I wasn’t sure what it would be like, but I like it - you also get a real-life view of what you want to do.

"Within the course, we had a 45-day placement at Lincoln County Hospital. You see different areas of the hospital gaining respect for what they do and see how departments run within the hospital. I was in and out of wards a lot, it is fast paced. I got to see the MRIs, X-rays, dressing changes, equipment operation and helped out with stamping paperwork and cleaning.

Zoe is also taking advantage of our FREE driving scheme - removing financial barriers enabling students to get to industry placements easier.

Health & Social facilities

Gibney Building

Health & Science and Education & Childcare students study at our recently renovated Gibney Building, Lincoln College received £2.3m from the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (GLLEP) to develop the facilities.

"The course helped set in my mind what I want to do in the future - during the placement, it can give you an idea of workplace expectations and whether you can handle them.

"Next year, I will be specialising in Adult Nursing. I am excited we have high-tech dolls and sensory rooms at College - set like a hospital where we can do realistic scenarios – you can talk to the dolls like patients, give them the medicine, and then the dolls respond to the medication like a person would.” - Zoe Robinson, Health & Science T Level student.
