Living in Newark

Newark-on-Trent is a quaint market town, and with great road and rail links, you can travel to the cities of Nottingham and Lincoln in around 30 minutes.

Newark has an interesting history dating back to 1068 when Newark Castle was built. Parts of the castle still remain following its demolition by Oliver Cromwell and the castle grounds provide a pleasant public space.

Today the town offers a full range of facilities, affordable housing and a traditional community atmosphere. The town has a vibrant market three days a week and is host to a growing number of events that celebrate music including jazz and folk festivals.

Accommodation

There are many options available to International Students who want to live and study in Lincoln. Here are just a few ways that you can do this.

Got a question?

Booking your accommodation

Lincoln College do not offer accommodation but can support to arrange homestay (host family) accommodation for international students on full-time courses, though there are the following age restrictions to consider:

  • Students who are under 18 stay with a host family.

  • Students who are 18+ have more options and can choose to stay with a host family, in private rented accommodation or in student accommodation.

For help finding accommodation for study please contact our International Office on +44(0) 1522 876286 or by email.

Student Accommodation

Student Accommodation is only available for students aged 18+; Lincoln College may be able to help arrange this.

There is very high demand so you need to sign an agreement for the full academic year (until July) and pay a deposit well in advance. Kitchen and laundry facilities are available on site; students need to buy and prepare their own meals, as well as doing their own laundry.

Privately-rented flats and houses

This accommodation is only available for students aged 18+; you will have to sign a rental agreement (a legal document) with a landlord - through a letting agent.

Unfortunately Lincoln College cannot arrange private accommodation for you, but you may choose to start in homestay accommodation initially and look for private accommodation once you are familiar with the local area. Information is available from letting agents.
