Work Experience and Industry Placements
Our mission is to help you land the perfect placement that matches your interests and career goals!
Why do Work Experience?
It's basically an opportunity for you to dip your toes into the working world, learn some valuable skills, and get a taste of what different jobs are like. Plus, it looks great on your CV and can help you stand out when applying for future jobs!
Whether you're into coding, customer service, or bricklaying, we've got placements with local businesses and organisations that'll suit your interests. You'll get to develop those all-important employability skills that employers love, like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
What is an Industry Placement?
Industry Placements are designed for students enrolled in specific technical training programmes called T-Levels. Here at Lincoln College, we're all about giving you hands-on learning opportunities with local businesses in cool fields like Health Science, Early Years and Teaching, Engineering, and Accounting.
Typically, they last 45 to 60 days, or a minimum of 315 hours spread out over two years. That's a lot of time to dive deep into your field and hone those skills you've been learning in class. You'll get to put your knowledge into action, gaining confidence and valuable skills that'll set you up for success in the real world.
Placement Advisers will guide you through the process, keeping you on track with your goals, and will be your go-to person for any questions or concerns.

Free driving lessons
The free driving lessons scheme covers the cost of all lessons, theory and practical tests, and is open to all students completing an industry placement relevant to their level two or three courses.*
Oscar Lacey, a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Construction and The Built Environment student, passed his test first time on the free driving lessons scheme. Oscar has since excelled in his Site Engineer role at Galliford Try, accessing remote locations for jobs thanks to the scheme.
*Students must be up to date with their logbook, have 95% attendance at college, hold a provisional licence, and have already passed their theory test.
Social Action Projects
Social Action Projects is a chance to get involved and make an impact on something you're passionate about. Tackle these projects solo, with your squad, or team up with other students from across the college to really make a difference.
Social Action Projects is like a crash course in super important skills that'll help you crush it in your future career, significantly enhancing your CV. We're talking teamwork, communication, presentation skills, and even brushing up on your English, Maths, and digital skills. Plus, they're a great way to flex your resilience muscles and show off your can-do attitude!
Garden Renovation
Our Supported Education students revamped the garden at local charity Involve - developing the Mint Lane Cafe's outdoor space so they have raised beds to grow their own veg onsite!
Refurbishment Project
Wes Hornsby, a Level 2 Painting and Decorating student completed 6-days work experience converting the old hospital clinic into commercial rooms for the Involve local charity hub and now volunteers in his free time at the charity, which was a great upskilling opportunity.
