Offer Types

At Lincoln College University Centre, we understand you are more than just your grades and take this into consideration. Learn more about the types of offers we make and the criteria we use to decide.

Here for you

When reviewing your course application, we review various factors to help us to decide what offer to make. This could include:

  • Academic and non-academic achievements, including predicted grades

  • Skills and experience

  • Hobbies, passion and enthusiasm for the subject

  • References

  • Personal circumstances. For example, have you been in care? Do you have a disability, such as a mental health condition? We will consider your achievements in context. See the Contextualised Offers section further down the page for more details.

Types of Offers

Conditional Offers

These offers detail the conditions students would need to meet to gain an offer with us. Usually, these are based on their achieved grades, so a student would need to wait to get their results for us to confirm their place.

Unconditional Offers

This means a student has already met the entry requirements, so the place is theirs if they want to accept.

Unsuccessful Applications

There are many reasons why a student's application might be unsuccessful. For instance, they haven't met the entry requirements or their application leads us to believe the course isn't a right fit. We're always happy to discuss our decisions and help ensure a student makes the right choice for them.

Contextualised Offers

Contextualised Offers

We are delighted that we may be able to make contextualised offers to some students.

Ensuring fair access for students by removing barriers and supporting students to access Higher education should be priority to assisting students in entry.

Lincoln College University Centre is committed to the active promotion and advancement of equality of opportunity for all and therefore takes all individual circumstances into consideration.

Contextualised offers will make the application and recruitment process more accessible, which will reflect the commitments we have made in our Access and Participation Plan and remove barriers that prevent applicants entering higher education while maintaining the necessary standards.

When we review an application, we take into consideration the context in which applicants have achieved their academic qualifications. If candidates meet certain eligibility criteria, we may make an offer which is lower than our typical entry requirements. This is called a contextual offer. Where contextual offers are used, they are used in situations where they minimise barriers to entry for applicants and address inequalities, while maintaining standards.

The Process

We will review the student’s application and take extra consideration, around the student’s achievements. We will use the eligibility criteria and review applicants who have the greatest potential to succeed.

A Contextualised offer may be used if the applicant meets certain eligibility criteria, this offer would be lower than our typical entry requirements.
