Air & Defence Career College celebrates second troop of graduates

43 students graduated yesterday from this unique learning programme, which is designed to create career pathways for young people into the RAF and the wider aerospace industry.

The ceremony, held at Royal Air Force College at Cranwell on Monday 25 June, gave friends and family of the graduates the chance to celebrate their achievements and hard work over the last 12 months.

Many of this year’s graduates have either secured a place in the RAF or are advancing through the RAF recruitment process.

Group Captain Paul McClurg, Group Captain - Training said: “On behalf of the Commandant of Royal Air Force College Cranwell I would like to congratulate all the learners who are graduating from the Air & Defence Career College.

“The Royal Air Force and industry partners continue to provide enrichment activities that are a pivotal part of the programme and their investment has benefitted learners as they take up their chosen careers.

“In this, the RAF’s 100th anniversary, the challenge now is to maintain the standards whilst expanding the programme.”

Graduate Abi who will join the RAF as a medic in August said: “It feels really great to be graduating today and I’m really proud to have been a part of the Air & Defence Career College in Lincoln – I can’t wait to start my journey as a medic in the RAF.

“I just want to say thank you so much to my tutors and the College - I really appreciate everything you’ve done to get me to where I am.”

Gary Headland, CEO of The Lincoln College Group said: “I am delighted that our second full academic year of running Britain’s first Air & Defence Career College has culminated in a ceremony at the RAF College Cranwell.

“The A&DCC model is going from strength to strength and we anticipate a substantial increase in the number of A&DCC students in Lincoln.

“Two additional A&DCCs will also start to operate in September; one at the College of West Anglia near to RAF Marham; the other at New College Stamford near to RAF Wittering.

“I am delighted that we are able to produce highly skilled and productive young men and women for entry into the Royal Air Force and a wide range of defence companies.”
