Working with a dedicated team, we provide opportunities for employment routes and essential skills. Our goal is to help people learn, live, and work in Newark and Sherwood. Witnessing students thrive, gain confidence, and acquire work and life skills is incredibly rewarding.

“Throughout my tenure at Newark College, we’ve built programmes aligned with job market needs and fostered resilience and independence in young people. As Head of the college, I've worked with a great team to promote education for young people and adults. Our collaborative efforts with local support and employers have led to successful projects, such as our Plumbing Centre and The Air and Space Institute. I believe in the transformative power of education and its ability to change lives.

“Additionally, we have changed hidden curriculum areas of learning, I've conducted research on the impact of food on education and implemented social eating initiatives to enhance student productivity and concentration. Providing free breakfast and lunch meals alongside a no-means tested food bank creates social connections and combats food waste. It's been an inspiring journey, and I'm immensely grateful for the recognition."

Mark Locking, CEO and Principal of the Lincoln College Group said: “We are absolutely delighted for Penny, whose contribution to Newark College and the Newark education community has been superb for many years.

“In addition to supporting the business and student community, she has also championed foodbank initiatives with Fair Share and Waste Knot, the 'Good for me, Good for FE' volunteering initiative and the Children's Bereavement Centre.  The fact she manages this whilst running her local Brownie Pack is a testament to her passion and drive; she is a well-loved and respected member of the College Staff and it is great for her to receive this award from the King.”

Penny Taylor's recognition serves as a reminder that the pursuit of excellence in education and employment is a collective effort.
