Staff and Students Celebrate Lincolnshires Olympic and Paralympic Stars

Lincolnshire's Olympic and Paralympic stars have been celebrated with an open-top bus parade of Lincoln.

The bus tour, organised by Lincolnshire Sport in partnership with Stagecoach, passed by Lincoln College on Monks Road on Friday 4th November with students and staff gathering outside to applaud the athletes’ success.

Appearing on the tour were gold medallist and hockey player Shona McCallin, open water swimmer Jack Burnell, equestrian medallist Sophie Wells and shot-putter Kieran Tscherniawsky, all who represented Team GB at the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio.

The athletes, in their Team GB kit, proudly displayed medals and waved to the crowds as they passed the Lincoln campus.

Alice Carter, Lincoln College Sports Project Officer at Lincolnshire Sport said:

“The bus tour was a fantastic opportunity for Lincoln College to be a part of celebrating the achievements of our Lincolnshire athletes. It was great to see so many people gathered outside the college, cheering and waving flags and banners.

“The dedication and success of Team GB at the recent Rio Games will hopefully have inspired both students and staff to not only be active, but also to strive for their goals”
