Students serve up a feast at Sincil Bank

Learners from catering courses at Lincoln College prepared and served food in Lincoln City FC's Buildbase Legends Lounge, boxes and Boardroom - where they waited on VIP guests and directors of the Club.

The College has secured a partnership with Lincoln City where it provides it’s à la carte catering and hospitality services on home match days and serve on average 370 people.

The Lincoln v Oldham on game on Tuesday night was also attended by Oldham manager and ex-Manchester United player Paul Scholes.

Student James Bembridge is undergoing a supported internship at the Lincoln home ground where he helps prepare for match days as well as helping out as front of house staff.

He said: “I think the best thing about working here has been meeting new people and building new friends and relationships.

“I’ve definitely gained so much more confidence by working these events – I think putting yourself in situations you wouldn’t normally be in really helps as well as having to interact with new people.

“Lincoln City have also offered me a permanent position for when I’ve finished the internship which is great.

“I’ve accepted the job but I’ll be looking for something else in catering and hospitality to do alongside it as I’ve really enjoyed every aspect of it – especially the development of my social skills.”

Level 1 catering student Huey Jones said: “I was kicked out of school and catering was the one thing I enjoyed so this experience has helped me gain every day and real-life work experience that I’ll be able to transfer to a future career – hopefully in the RAF.”

Level 1 catering student Leah-Marie Roberts said: “Having this opportunity has really helped with my anxiety as it keeps me busy and my mind is constantly occupied.

“I’ve also learnt new skills - being thrown in at the deep end and catering for these big events has given me so much more confidence and independence too.

“I hope in the future the skills I’ve gained working at Lincoln City will help me get my dream job of a Medical Combat Technician in the Army.”
