Chemistry is a prestigious and recognised high-standard subject by employers and universities in all disciplines. Therefore, successful completion of this programme, in combination with other suitable qualifications will give you an advantage when wishing to enter into employment or a wide range of Higher Education programmes which can lead up to postgraduate PhD level. This course is relevant to anyone who wants to understand the importance of Science and technology.

During this course, you’ll study:

Development of Practical Skills in Chemistry – this module underpins the whole of the specification and covers the practical skills that you will develop throughout the course

Foundations in Chemistry – covering key underlying chemistry concepts

Periodic Table and Energy

Core Organic Chemistry.

You’ll need five GCSEs (minimum grade Four/C or above), including Maths and English Language (minimum grade Five or equivalent), Chemistry (minimum grade Six or equivalent) or Six/Six in Combined Science.

Assessment: Assessment is by written examination.

Progression: You could progress into a Higher Education Science based course.

You’ll need general stationery items including a scientific calculator and access to the internet; PCs are available on campus.
