This course has long run in parallel to our full-time courses as a taster/hobbyist course option.
This is a 10-week, two-hour session per block in violin making. It is structured into three parts (Autumn-Winter-Spring) that can be taken in an academic year. Classes take place on Wednesday evenings.
The course is based in the workshops of the internationally known Newark School of Violin Making. It provides an opportunity to sample the basic techniques and processes involved in making your first violin.
It is the perfect introduction for anyone who wishes to build up specialist knowledge and skills while working at their own pace, either to plan and try a career in the lutherie trade or to develop a hobby and make their own instrument.
