The Level 2 Award is ideal if you are already working in the welding and fabrication industries and looking to develop your skills further or increase your responsibilities and knowledge.

The unit is designed to enable you to demonstrate industry-standard welding skills and associated underpinning knowledge to the level of being able to complete welded joints in standard welding positions. It will also prepare you for undertaking qualifications at NVQ levels 2 and 3.

The course is run on a Tuesday or Wednesday Evening from 6 pm to 8 pm for 18 weeks.

Entry requirements

You will have completed a level 1 award in this process or be working in this process in the fabrication and welding industry

Study Details

"You will attend a two-hour session delivered by Industry experts. There are both theoretical and practical elements to this course. The course will run on a Wednesday evening from 18:00 - 20:00 for a period of up to 30 weeks. "

Assessment & Progression

You will complete various assessments of welded joints throughout the course, under the direction of your tutor. There is also a short question and answer module.

What You Will Need To Bring

Welding PPE is required:

  • Flame retardant Overalls

  • Welding Mask

  • Safety Boots

  • Safety Glasses

  • (Welding masks can be supplied if you do not have one)
