Why ASI?
The Air & Space Institute (ASI) in Newark is a groundbreaking educational facility developed by Lincoln College Group. Officially opened in April 2024, the £15.4 million, three-storey campus is situated in the heart of historic Newark and designed to deliver specialist training for the aerospace and aviation industries.
The campus features a full-sized Airbus A318, now modified to replicate an Airbus A320 Neo, alongside Boeing-standard simulation suites, VR studios, high-tech workshops (featuring robotic arms, 3D printers, metalworking tools), CAD studios, and adaptive classrooms/seminars.
At ASI Newark, students learn from skilled lecturers who have a high level of working knowledge, based on industry experience. Their teaching is designed to enable students to gain a deep insight into the latest trends and requirements of the aerospace and aviation sector.
We have a strong focus on employability, and our training partners and professional connections can give students the chance to immerse themselves in the industry.
As well as receiving interesting lectures and seminars, students are also supported by progress coaches, module leaders and course leaders. In addition, guest speakers often deliver sessions for students within ASI to enrich their learning. Previously we have welcomed speakers from Jet2, British Airways, EasyJet and East Midlands Airport.

Elizabeth's Vote of Thanks at 2025 Graduation
Elizabeth said: “I wanted to thank our dedicated teachers and excellent support team. Without you, none of this would be possible and the knowledge you have shared with us will reach far into whatever career we choose to enter. The opportunities you’ve opened up for us too are incredible.”
Teni Orisadare
HNC Aeronautical Engineering (HTQ)
"My name is Teni, I’m 20 and from Nigeria. I’m currently studying an HNC in Aeronautical Engineering because I aspire to build a career in the aeronautics field.
I really enjoy learning new things about engineering, and I find the modules both interesting and engaging, as they give me the opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge.
Although engineering courses have traditionally had more male students, this is gradually changing as more women become interested in and encouraged to pursue STEM subjects.
I hope to work in aeronautical engineering in the future, and the college has been very supportive, providing resources and opportunities that have further inspired me to achieve this goal."
Helen Jackson
HNC Aeronautical Engineering for England HTQ
"My name is Helen Jackson, I am 27 years old and originally from Grimsby in Northeast Lincolnshire.
I am currently studying a part-time HNC in Aeronautical Engineering, which I chose to broaden my technical knowledge of aircraft and support my career progression, especially as it fits well alongside my full-time role following my Level 3 qualification in Aircraft Maintenance.
So far, I’ve really enjoyed developing new skills such as using CAD software, designing a drone, and gaining hands-on workshop experience with marking out and milling machines, all of which are highly valuable in the industry.
Although I initially lacked confidence after not being selected for engineering at GCSE level, I later pursued an apprenticeship while on maternity leave, despite feeling apprehensive as a new mother and woman entering a male-dominated field.
However, I’ve since found the industry to be incredibly supportive and welcoming. Looking ahead, I hope to move into the design or testing of new aircraft systems, and the college has played a key role in helping me achieve this by providing flexible, accessible learning and strong support that has allowed me to thrive both professionally and personally."
