Why Animal Management?
Our degrees in Animal Management are a great option to start or progress your career within the animal industry. Whether you're looking to work with a range of domestic, farm, exotic or wildlife species, we can help you on the path to an exciting future.
What is a Foundation and Top-Up degree, and what are the benefits to studying this way?
Lincoln College University Centre offers the Applied Animal Management course as a Foundation degree and Top-Up, which combine academic study with work-based learning. Foundation Degrees typically focus on a particular industry with the aim of equipping students for a career in that sector.
Students who complete a Foundation degree (FdSc or FdA) might then choose to continue with their studies with our Top-up Degree, which enables suitably qualified applicants to join the final year of a full Bachelor's degree programme.
Foundation degrees are ideal if you’re unsure about taking a full degree or if you want to study while you work. Whether you’re working in or towards the role now, you can gain professional and technical skills to further your career – within a shorter time frame than a full degree.
If you have successfully completed a Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND), a top-up degree can be an excellent way to boost your existing qualifications and open up new career or educational possibilities. These programmes typically take just one year to complete, but as a top-up student you have the opportunity to graduate with a full honours degree.
Our top-up degrees enable suitably qualified students to join the final year of an undergraduate degree programme directly by taking into account these prior qualifications as equivalent to Years 1 and 2 of a Bachelor's degree.
In summary, foundation degrees provide a practical and efficient route to gaining industry-specific skills, while top-up degrees offer a streamlined path to achieving a full bachelor’s qualification. The choice depends on individual circumstances and career goals. 🎓🌟

FdSc Applied Animal Management
Why did you choose this course and why Lincoln College?
I’m studying FdSc Applied Animal Management and as part of our course, we have frequent practical days at White Post Farm and other relevant organisations (ie RSPCA wildlife rescue as we’re studying a module on wildlife rehab). Being able to go out on these trips is extremely helpful not only for our current studies and assignments, but also for our future employment.
By being able to go out and meet people from various sectors, it allows us to gain experience as well as build relationships with people within the sector. Many of us on the course have been prompted to send in our CVs following our studies.

BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Management (Top-Up)
Where has the course taken you?
The BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Management degree has opened a range of doors for me within the animal industry.
With no prior experience or qualification within the animal field, this degree was perfect for nurturing me through the basics to the more diverse and detailed areas in animal management.
Through the superb support of the college tutors, along with hard work and determination, I was awarded a first-class honours.
I am currently living my dream as a zookeeper, working with a range of species including primates, psittacines, and big cats.
