Air & Defence students visit the Red Arrows at RAF Scampton

Learners from Lincoln College headed to the home of the Red Arrows to find out more about life in the RAF.

Students got an exclusive behind the scenes tour to discover more about the role engineers play in supporting the Red Arrows around the world.

They also witnessed a private air display as guests of the RAF Aerobatic Team.

Students were given a tour of the aircraft hangar and were briefed by RAF engineering staff about the type of employment and job roles they could expect to experience in the future.

The learners were able to experience first-hand the excellence, teamwork and dedication to professional standards that will be required in their future careers.

The group also visited the RAF Scampton Heritage Centre where they were inspired by the legacy of 617 Squadron, later named the Dambusters.

Lincoln College Air & Defence Career College lecturer Lizzie Corbett said “This was a unique and exciting opportunity for our students to see what happens behind the scenes with the Red Arrows.

“It was great to see how our students aspire to use the skills they have learnt on the Air & Defence Career College course to work with the Red Arrows team in the future."
