Artful Eddy Gets Inspired By Imps and Quentin Blake

One of Lincoln College's Level 3 EHCP students has taken inspiration from children’s illustration and a new shop on the city’s Bailgate to create something truly special.

Eddy Gill, who studies on the Level 3 Art & Design course at CHT first found it a challenge to settle into a new routine, but has learned lots of skills since starting in September.

His 1-1 Tutor, Jo Cook, says: “Eddy travels every day from Skegness and has done really well to get used to the routine. As part of a new project, students on his course have been asked to find somewhere in Lincoln that interests them and to take an illustration that also appeals to them.

“Eddy picked Quentin Blake, who is perhaps most well-known for making the stories of Roald Dahl come to life with his distinctive, hand-drawn style.

“His tutor Shelley Hawley and I were delighted to see how well he has captured this style but has also created a picture of a recognisable landmark in Lincoln, which is the newly opened Imporium.”

In making his piece come alive, Eddy researched how Quentin Blake worked and even used a light box in the way that the illustrator did in the past.

To top off this particular project, Eddy framed the piece, signed it and gifted it to the owners of The Imporium.
