ASI Eyes Up Partnerships in Morocco

Seeking new opportunities and increasing our global reach were behind a recent trip to Morocco for the Lincoln College International and ASI team.

Seeking new opportunities and increasing our global reach were behind a recent trip to Morocco for several of the Lincoln College International and ASI team.

Visiting aviation training provider IMA Casablanca and other trade bodies, the team, accompanied by ASI Newark partners Eagle Eye Innovations, discussed the mutual benefits of working together as well as exploring the country.

Director of International Relations, Rick Long, said: “This was a reciprocal visit that we are confident will lead to further collaboration. We really wanted to find out about the unique supply chain issues and training needs of those seeking to work and employ candidates in Morocco as a whole.”

Funded by the British Council under their Going Global Partnerships programme, Lincoln College’s aims were to seek ways to engage with another country for its study programmes abroad as well as to understand the opportunities available. The College met with the Department for Business and Trade Country Director for Morocco, Tom Hill, who also provided further opportunities for collaboration in Further Education, Higher Education and training.

Eagle Eye Innovations, the industry partner connected to ASI, supported the college team in fostering collaboration within the aviation and aerospace ecosystem.

Commercial Lead for EEI, Ross Tarnowski, added: “We aimed to explore how EEI could engage with various Moroccan organisations and companies to identify opportunities in RPAS (Remotely Piloted Air Systems) across training, technical, and operational services.

“It was an excellent visit to meet with the various stakeholders associated with the Moroccan aerospace and aviation industries.

“The RPAS sector is growing rapidly and presents significant opportunities for collaboration in areas such as training, technical expertise, and operational services.

“Engaging with Moroccan organisations and companies has highlighted the potential for innovative partnerships that can drive growth and development within this dynamic industry.”

Rick added: “We found the trip to be truly engaging and we anticipate setting up an exchange programme shortly so that a cohort of Moroccan students can come and visit Lincoln College campus as well as ASI in Newark to see what we offer. Equally, we hope we can send a group of our students to Morocco in 2026 to see the truly global scale of aviation as a profession.”

Alexandra Balafrej, Country Director of British Council Morocco, said of the partnership: “We are delighted to welcome a delegation from Lincoln College to Morocco, as part of their collaboration with Moroccan partner organisations IMA and GIMAS, funded through the British Council Going Global Partnerships TVET programme.

“The project enables the mutual exchange of expertise and best practice between the partners in the sector of aeronautics, which is an exciting and growing priority area in Morocco.

“We wish Lincoln College and their Moroccan partners every success throughout this collaboration which will hopefully lead to longer term sustainable partnerships and connections.”
