Big Welcome 2024

Last week, we were delighted to welcome students back to our Lincoln College Group campuses – Lincoln College, Newark College, and the Air and Space Institute – for the exciting Big Welcome 2024. The atmosphere was postive as both new and returning students embraced a packed schedule of activities designed to start the year with enthusiasm and community spirit.

One of the standout features of the week was the pop-up graffiti wall, where students from all campuses collaborated to create a colourful, artistic display. This interactive project became an instant hit, allowing students to bond through creativity and teamwork. And to keep the energy levels high, free food giveaways were offered throughout the week, giving everyone a chance to refuel between events.

For those seeking adventure, the A-level team arranged a series of team-building trips that encouraged students to get to know each other in fun and engaging ways. From axe throwing and boxing to solving a murder mystery and visiting Lincoln Guildhall, these activities created the perfect environment for forging new friendships. On top of that, students were treated to an inspiring motivational talk by Aim a Little Higher, who offered words of wisdom to both first and second-year students, helping to set the tone for the year ahead.

Across our campuses, external exhibitors also played a key role in welcoming students. At the Lincoln Campus, students explored a range of services available through the Project You Your Space Hub, meeting organisations such as the NHS, Voluntary Centre Services, Oasis Family Support, Green Synergy, and more. At Newark Campus, the outdoor quad was buzzing with representatives from the Sexions, Newark and Sherwood District Council, the Children’s Bereavement Centre, and the YMCA, who were on hand to provide information and support.

As the Big Welcome 2024 comes to a close, students are heading into the new academic year with confidence, having made new connections and experienced a vibrant start to their time with us. We look forward to seeing all that this year brings for our students and the Lincoln College Group community!
