Construction learners teach local kids tricks of the trade

Lincoln College students and tutors took part in Construction Week this week at the Lincolnshire Showground where they demonstrated their skills with a range of activities for local school children.

Activities revolved around taster sessions around subjects including plumbing, electrical, joinery, bricklaying, plastering and painting and decorating.

The event, that ran by The Lincoln Group Training Association alongside with The Education Business Partnership, is hands-on experience for over 1,000 school students to sample a range of construction careers and activities.

The purpose of the week is to raise awareness and interest in the diversity of careers available within the construction industry.

Level 2 Painting and Decorating student Georgi Tjepkema said: “It’s really good to come out and promote the College and show what we do on a daily basis to help inspire younger kids.

“It’s been so nice showing the school children what we have to offer and they all seemed to really enjoy it!”
