Embrace Your Journey at the Lincoln College Group

Navigating your future post-GCSE results day.

Level 2 Sport student, Alex Ward on GCSE results day.

Today marks a significant milestone for many students at the Lincoln College Group as they receive their GCSE results. Whether you’re celebrating success or contemplating your next steps after a challenging results day, remember that your journey doesn’t end here. At the Lincoln College Group, we’re committed to helping you forge a path to success, no matter where you start.

For some, GCSE results might not reflect their true potential. If you find yourself needing to re-sit English or Maths alongside your college courses, rest assured that you’re not alone. We understand that this moment can be disheartening, but it’s also an opportunity to pivot and excel. Our dedicated team is here to support you through re-sits and guide you towards a bright and promising future.

Mark Locking, Principal and CEO at the Lincoln College Group, said: “Congratulations to all students receiving their GCSE and Level 2 results today! Remember, results day is just the beginning. At the Lincoln College Group, we’re committed to not only supporting your academic success but also your personal growth and well-being. Whether you’re looking to re-sit exams or explore new opportunities, we’re here to support you every step of the way.”

Alexandra Ward (Alex) received her GCSE results today at Lincoln College. Having recently relocated from Ireland to Lincoln, Alex sat her GCSEs in English and Maths for the first time—qualifications that are not required until the age of 18 back home.

Alex recently discovered that she has a visual impairment, which had significantly impacted her learning, often causing her to miss questions simply because she couldn’t see them. After getting glasses and adapting to using a laptop for her college work, Alex achieved impressive grades in her exams.

She said: “I’m quite happy that I’ve achieved a 4 in both Maths and English. I was quite confident going into them, and I was definitely happy with the result this morning when I saw it. I had a lot of support from both my Maths and English teachers, who helped with mock papers. They were very approachable and always encouraged me to ask questions.”

Alongside her GCSEs, Alex studied for her Level 2 Introduction to Sport and Leisure, achieving a Distinction. Next year, she hopes to progress to the Level 3 Policing qualification at Lincoln College, with the aspiration of becoming an RAF police officer.

“Policing was my second option, but as I read more about it, I realised it offered better career opportunities. I found it more interesting. The support I received was invaluable—they helped me gather all the information I needed before applying. Even my tutors on my sports course were instrumental in helping me find out more about policing and guiding me towards my next steps.”

Heath Beaumont, a Computing student at Lincoln College, also received their GCSE results today and commented on the tutor support they received while studying with us: “They were absolutely lovely, exceptionally nice and kind, and helped me and my friends a lot. I actually enjoyed my GCSEs quite a lot, which honestly I wasn’t expecting.”
