Hairdressing Students Make a Big Impact with Fundraising for Children in Need

Newark College Hairdressing students host a salon fundraiser for Cash for Kids

Level 2 Hairdressing students at Newark College turned their talents into meaningful action this week, raising funds for Cash for Kids through a full day of salon services. On Tuesday 25 November, the on-campus salon was fully booked as clients supported the cause by making cash donations in return for their treatments.

The busy day offered students a valuable opportunity to boost their confidence and gain practical experience while working with staff, regular customers, and visitors from outside the college. Their efforts certainly paid off, with an impressive £205 raised by the end of the session.

Providing a wide range of services -  from full-head colours and wash-and-blowdrys to heated rollers, styling and root touch-ups - the students were able to broaden their skills while making a real difference to young people in need.

Their fundraising success means the whole group will be heading together to personally select gifts for the charity, adding an extra sense of pride and connection to their hard work.

Shannon Brammer, Lecturer in Hairdressing at the Lincoln College Group, said:  “It was brilliant to see the collaboration of students. They were really pleased to put their work towards an important charity and are really excited to go out and buy gifts for children in need from their hard work.”
